The MoveAbout Mentoring Program is designed for paediatric occupational therapists to receive regular clinical and professional mentoring to support them in their work with kids and families. The program includes a MoveAbout Mentoring Scholarship for therapists who are not currently receiving adequate supervision or mentoring at their current workplace. Sessions are conducted via Zoom or in-person at a MoveAbout clinic on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.

 

Participation in the MoveAbout Mentoring Program also includes a 40% discount on the "Intro to MoveAbout" recorded version of the "A Dynamic Approach to Regulation and Behaviour" online course.

In recent years, we have been stunned at the number of early years OTs who are feeling overworked, overwhelmed, and burnt out because they don't have adequate support in their current workplaces. 

At MoveAbout, our organising principle is we support the people who support the kids. For over 15 years, that's been our families and our team members. But we also love supporting the people in our community who support kids and families. If you're reading this, we're here to support you!

MoveAbout Therapy Services has created the MoveAbout Mentoring program to support paediatric occupational therapists who do not have enough support in their workplaces. We understand that many OTs may feel isolated or lack access to regular clinical and professional mentoring, which is essential for supporting the kids and families they work with. As a team who loves what we do and has amazing support, we want to share our knowledge and support other OTs, so they can truly love what they do.

The MoveAbout Mentoring program provides:

  • 1:1 mentoring
  • Access to MoveAbout Mentoring Focus Sheet
  • Access to MoveAbout Case Reflection Sheet
  • Access to MoveAbout STEPPSI Sheet
  • Early access to MoveAbout workshops, including Kim Barthel 'Trauma Sensitive Practice' in-person workshop in November 2023
  • Recording of MoveAbout Mentoring session for reflective purposes, following the session
  • Personal MoveAbout Mentoring Google Drive folder with session recordings and resources
  • Discount on Dynamic Approach to Regulation and Behaviour Webinar.

 

After participating in the program for six sessions, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate improved clinical reasoning skills related to your caseload.
  • Demonstrate improved understanding of regulation and behaviour and strategies to support regulation in function.
  • Provide holistic therapy incorporating education, consultation (including parent coaching) and direct treatment supporting the person, environment and occupation.
  • Potentially demonstrate improved skills in time management and administrative practices to support work-life balance.

 

Those who commit to six sessions will also receive:

  • Free access to Dynamic Approach to Regulation and Behaviour Webinar.
  • Free copy of MoveAbout's Treatment Activities Google Sheet with more than 200 treatment activities organized by area of focus (i.e. bilateral integration)
  • Free copy of our Sensory Diet handout.

 

We have a vision of ending burnout in early years OTs, by supporting you to gain the skills and tools you need to support kids and support the people who support the kids.

While we support OTs at all levels, we are uniquely skilled at providing the right support for paediatric OTs in their first 4 years of practice. We'll help you feel in-control, capable and authentically confident in your role as a paediatric OT as you grow in your career. 

 

Our one on one mentoring program is designed to provide personalised support and guidance to therapists as they develop their skills, knowledge and clinical reasoning capacities. Our mentors are experienced occupational therapists, trained in clinical supervision, who are dedicated to helping their mentees to develop their clinical reasoning capacities and reach their professional goals. 

Through MoveAbout Mentoring, our mentors are able to provide guidance, support, tools, and strategies related to clinical practice, professional development, and career pathways. We provide tools and frameworks to support you to review therapeutic cases and clinically reason with confidence. 

The MoveAbout Mentoring Program functions under different hourly rates depending on your level of experience:

New Graduates Scholarship

$89 (+ GST)

  • For new graduate occupational therapists (where their employer is unable or unwilling to pay for mentoring).

Early Years OTs Scholarship

$139 (+GST)

  • For therapists with 2-4 years experience (where their employer is unable or unwilling to pay for mentoring).

Senior Therapists Scholarship

$169 (+GST)

  • For therapists with 5+ years experience (where their employer is unable or unwilling to pay for mentoring).

Full Rate OT Mentoring

$200 (+GST)

  • For all employed paediatric OTs, where their employer is paying for sessions, or you are the owner of a business (Clinical supervision).
  • NB: The rate is $275 (+GST) where sessions also include business and management coaching/mentoring.

Our pricing varies depending on your level of experience and commitment to our program. For those who are not receiving financial support from their employer or business, we offer a discount on our full rate. However, if your employer is covering the cost, or you are the owner of your business, the full rate will be charged. For those requiring additional coaching in business and management (beyond clinical supervision), the rate is higher to reflect the additional support required. 

We also offer free access to our Dynamic Approach to Behaviour webinar for those who commit to six sessions in advance.

After the initial six sessions, the price for all levels (except for Full Rate and Business Coaching) will increase by $10.

It's important to note that GST is not included in the prices mentioned, and will be added accordingly.
