Teachers have a challenging job, and I’m hearing from many of you that it’s getting harder. Inclusion is amazing for kids when it’s done well, but teachers are often expected to support a wide range of kids and challenging behaviours without the resources or training they need.
World Teachers’ Day is celebrated internationally on 5 October, and here in Australia on 30 October. So as part of my mission to support the people who support the kids, I’m offering this training free to every school in Australia. I’ve never done this before.

Do you struggle to find strategies that are caring but also effective
when supporting students with challenging behaviours?
This course will deepen your understanding and support you in reframing the narratives around challenging behaviours in children. Within a child-centred and relationship-based framework, you’ll learn practical strategies that are both caring and effective.
You’ll get tools and perspectives to understand a child’s behaviour, work out what to do to support them, and help them create a new and more positive narrative. You’ll be trained in the ABC-IDEAS framework and the ABC-IDEAS Clinical Reasoning Tool for Supporting Challenging Behaviours.
This training was recorded live at an in-person workshop, so you’ll hear the real questions teachers, parents and therapists asked on the day. It’s for teachers, learning support staff, school leaders and anyone working with kids.
What’s Inside the Course?
Over four hours of content in eight short modules, to watch anytime at your own pace.
Module 1: Introduction to Behaviour
Reframe how you think about behaviour, moving away from blame and towards curiosity, understanding and connection.
Module 2: The Objective Behaviour
Learn to observe behaviour clearly, separating it from assumptions, labels and interpretations.
Module 3: Antecedents & Consequences
Explore what happens before and after a behaviour, and why these patterns matter.
Module 4: Safe to Learn and Engage
Why safety (physical, emotional and sensory) is the foundation for regulation, learning and connection.
Module 5: Individual Differences
Identify and respond to each child’s sensory, cognitive and emotional profile.
Module 6: Developmental Abilities, Environments & Activity
Look at the fit between the child’s abilities, the environment and the task, and how to adjust for success.
Module 7: Social Environment & Connection
How relationships and the social environment influence behaviour, and how to build connection that supports change.
Module 8: Hypotheses & Strategies
Bring it all together with the ABC-IDEAS Clinical Reasoning Tool to guide your next steps.

Dave Jereb
